The Heart Behind Meucats
Hi there!
I'm a proud cat mom to my beloved Lucy and the founder of Meucats.
Our story began on an ordinary Tuesday that changed everything. I was watching Lucy eat from her regular bowl of food, scattering as she gobbled it down in seconds, when she immediately retreated to the corner, looking uncomfortable. That all-too-familiar sound followed: Lucy was about to be sick from eating too fast, again.
Like any devoted cat parent, I set out to find a solution. I tried every slow feeder on the market, those maze-like contraptions, puzzle bowls, even the "interactive" options. But Lucy would just struggle to the point of frustration. The worst part? Some days, she'd simply walk away and not eat at all.
The designer in me couldn't accept that the only options were either ineffective or caused my cat distress. There had to be a better way, one that respected cats' natural behaviors instead of working against them.
With Lucy watching curiously from her favorite perch, I sketched the first concept for what would become the Meucats Slow Feeder. After countless revisions and late nights at my design table, I created a prototype using my 3D printer. The breakthrough moment came when I added that twist-adjustable center—suddenly, I could fine-tune the experience specifically for Lucy's needs.
The first time Lucy tried the prototype, something magical happened. She ate slowly, comfortably, with none of the frustration I'd seen with other feeders. No mess, no stomach troubles afterward, just a content cat enjoying her meal at a healthy pace. That moment of watching her happily eat without issues brought tears to my eyes.
I founded Meucats with three core promises:
- To truly understand cats — creating products that work with their natural instincts, not against them
- To solve real problems — focusing on meaningful solutions that make a genuine difference in your cat's wellbeing and happiness. We're not interested in creating novelty products that gather dust—we want to create companions to your cat's daily life that truly matter.
- To respect their human—create products that honor the special bond you share with your cat while complementing the home you've built together. We believe beautiful design reflects the care you provide for your feline family member.
Lucy, of course, became our official product tester (and quality control manager). Every design decision was filtered through a simple question: "Would this make Lucy's life better?"
